If YOU THINK that
God is hard at you, well here's what I THINK..
Have you ever wonder why
problems are given to you? Why life is hard at you? Why God gave it to you? Why
of all people these bad things happened to you?Let me share this to you.
I was seventeen years old when I was hit by a jeepney and that made my left leg
broken. I wept day and night. I can’t accept that it happened to me, I keep
asking God, of all people, why me? Have I been a bad girl? I keep on
praying to God to let me walk again. I never thought life would be difficult as
this. As one day, I saw a man, lying on the other room, have braces in his head,
then I looked down to my leg. Then I realize, I’m still lucky that I’m not in
the same position(it's hard to be in that position you know). Later that
night, I start to think that I should thank God because in spite of what happened to me, I’m still alive, I have fast recovery and able to stand and walk
again(slowly, like an old lady). There are lots of
people whom helped me to never give up. My mom and dad, my family, my
friends, my church mates and my new friends (Kuya Eugene who helped me when I
was lying on the street, my roommates, therapist, nurses and my doctor). My mom and dad witnessed
how painful I’m facing my life in the hospital; they told me that everything
will be okay; mom said she will replace all the tears to smiles.
A year later (fully recovered), mom asked me
if I have any plans for my 18th birthday, I didn't response, for me it's just a
plus one to my age, just getting older. Two months before my birthday mom told
me about her plans, i just nod, seems like I don't care. Then that day came,

I
celebrated my 18th birthday with a big smile, though preparations are bit
short, the party was awesome. I sang, we sang, I danced, we danced and party
all night. I also entertained my visitors. I felt so blessed because I'm surrounded with people who cares for me and who loves
me. I have no idea that my mom was planning this great. After the party, I realize that, it was the thing my mom told me, what my mom promised. That is
no ordinary birthday, that day made me think that it is the way of thanking all
of the people who helped me, helped us, as we are facing that terrifying
chapter of my life. Yes, I asked God why. Well, God answered me, not in words,
not in dreams, not in text or email but by giving people who will be with me through bad times and good times, by giving the ones who will
accept me, who will love me for me. That accident and celebration made Gladys a better
person. A person who I am today.
